Recently, many Blues fans across social media and other networks have become slightly agitated with the lack of transfer activity at the club.
This may be due to unlike previous years, Blues actually don’t need as much strengthening, therefore less players are needed rather than a whole new side of players.
By the end of last summer’s transfer window, Lee Clark had brought in a total of 13 players, so for me, it is no shock that Blues fans are expecting and wanting new signings.
But the question is, do we really need many more faces? I truly believe we don’t, of course we need to replace Darren Randolph with a new number one, and possibly bring in a new winger to provide competition for both David Cotterill and Demarai Gray along with a player we all want to see in a Blues shirt again, Robert Tesche.
So the message is that we need to be patient, the signings will come, whether it’s later than preferred or not, deals for new arrivals will come.
Gary Rowett has already attempted to sign former loanee and Wigan Athletic defender Rob Kiernan last week, however the deal fell through due to sources close to the club claiming that the club weren’t happy with ‘any aspects of the medical’. This is a blow for Blues as the defender showed good form whilst being on loan last season, however he is replaceable and the search for another central defender goes on.
Unlike previous campaigns, Blues seem to have funds available in order to bring in new additions. This may mean that Gary Rowett is being cautious about using the funds, during his first interview for the club as manager, he said ‘I will use the money like it’s my own’ therefore giving the indication that Gary is carefully weighing up his options and not spending unwisely.
