What Can We Expect From The Newest Recruits?

As reported earlier, Blues today completed the signing of Tomasz Kuszczak after the goalkeeper was released from Wolves after his short term deal with the club ended.

To many of us, this deal was a bit of a surprise, I think most Blues fans expected to see the arrival of free-agent Wes Foderingham, however that deal did not materialise.

So what can be expected from the former Manchester United stopper?

There is one thing for certain, Tomasz has undoubted experience at the top level of English football, he signed for Manchester United from West Brom firstly on a loan deal which then became permanent the in 2007 after a series of impressive performances, however the Polish international became surplus to requirements at Old Trafford due to the likes of Ben Foster and Edwin Van Der Sar yet he still made a total of 32 appearances for the red devils.

I believe that with a good amount of game time and confidence, the keeper’ can achieve good things and could turn out to be a real coup, a suitable and good replacement for Darren Randolph.

Last Friday, Blues completed the signing of Jacques Maghoma from Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer. Maghoma failed to make any real impact at Hillsborough, scoring just 2 goals in 57 games for the owls.

However, previous to the DR Congo international joining Wednesday, the winger flourished under Rowett at Burton, scoring 18 goals under his management in 2013 and this led to Maghoma being included in the League Two team of the year. If he can replicate this form under Rowett, I believe the winger could do good things next season, and possibly make Wednesday regret releasing the former Burton man.

Finally, Blues secured the services of former academy player Adam Legzdins on Saturday following the Englishman leaving Leyton Orient. Legzdins appeared 35 times for Derby County from 2011-2014 including conceding 3 goals to Blues in 2013 which saw a then loanee Wes Thomas score 2 goals against the rams.

I believe Adam will provide good competition for Kuszczak as he has championship experience and is determined to be a success at the club. During an interview, Legzdins stated that he wanted ‘to play football’ which gives the indication that he feels he isn’t there just to make up the numbers.
