Stockdale drops major hint surrounding Jonathan Grounds’ future

The Blues squad are back again for their second day of pre-season testing in the scorching temperature at the newly named Trillion Trophy Training center.

However, it appears left-back Johnathan Grounds is missing, along with David Stockdale who has been removed from the first team squad and been told he can leave the club.

Instead of preparing for the new season, the pair have been filling up their cupboards with clothes and having a coffee break instead (below).

This all but confirms Grounds is likely to depart Blues after the news of him being listed for transfer at the start of the window. The 30-year-old made 158 appearances and scored four goals during his four-year-stay at the club.

His replacement, Kristian Pedersen, signed a four year deal at Blues yesterday which was a relief for all Blues fans as they patiently waited for just under a month for any news on the Danishman.

It seems the club are balancing the incomings with who goes out, as Robert Tesche’s departure was announced shortly before Pedersen was pictured signing the dotted line.

Monk will be hoping to bring in a goalkeeper as soon as possible before pre-season training kicks off in Austria next month.

Blues fans, what are your thoughts, will you be sad to see Grounds go? Let us know in the comment section below!

    • Agree – he deserves our thanks for being one of our most consistent players during a difficult period for the team

  1. Sad to see both go
Stockdale top keeper, captain material and Grounds didn’t do a lot wrong, very consistent hence the bad run we went on after he got injured at Sheffield Wed
Good luck boys wherever you end up

  2. Grounds i’ll be sad to see go. Lacked ability at times but could never fault his effort and was one of the players that helped turn the club round from the dark (no money) era, to now – brought in multiple replacements and he always seemed to come back stronger so is a shame his going but the club needs to move forward. Stockdale was a massive disapointment, did his job on occasions but was also at fault for a lot of goals and if the rumour regarding his money are true, probably best for the stability of the club for him to go.

  3. Stock dale is a right petty fucker. No need to put it all over social media that you’re out with Grounds. Just a dig back at blues

  4. Grounds did nothing wrong and dont understand how stockdale or even why he has to go i mean they knew about hos wages when they signed him

  5. Grounds always gave of his best, so good luck to him. To be told not to report back is a bit mean but if that’s the only way to maintain squad harmony and give the player the message that he has no future so be it. It also shows GM has a ruthless streak, which is good for the players to know.

  6. football fans pretty dim sometimes, unless a deal is imminent then why would you marginalise players that may end up staying?
If they don’t move on because the fee isn’t high enough or more likely because the wages offered elsewhere are lower than at BCFC, then you’ll end up keeping them and paying those wages, so you should be using them or they’ll just sit in the reserves and take the money so strangling the club in that those finances can’t be used for new signings.
So in our current predicament if one doesn’t go out then one doesn’t come in
