RUMOUR: Dwight Gayle to Birmingham?

Rumours are Blues have made a loan bid for Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle, in an attempt to hijack his move to Fulham.

The 24-year-old joined the Premier League side two years ago, but two thirds of his league appearances have come from the substitutes bench.

The Mirror claims that Gayle has fallen down the pecking order at Palace thanks to the arrival of loan signing Patrick Bamford and the reported deal to bring Connor Wickham to the club.

The paper reports that Fulham have made a season-long loan bid to sign the Englishman and the deal could be wrapped up quickly, however according to The Football Forecast Blues could stop that move from happening.

With Donaldson and Thomas the only strikers likely to be at Gary Rowett’s disposal, a player like Gayle could give them competition which would be welcome to Blues fans.

With talks with trialist Mlapa dying down, if true, this would be a good move from Rowett.

Gayle joined Palace from Peterborough United for £6m.

Blues fans, what are your thought’s on this rumour? Let us know in the comments!

  1. Firstly can we better fulhams wages or is this another pie in the sky signing that will drag on until the window closes ,one minute we the fans are not realistic the next minute we are going for a premiership striker, what really is going on.

  2. More likely to go to QPR than US or Fulham they can pay the 28k per week wage + bonus.
Would be quality but never going to happen..
