Birmingham City fell once again to an average Wigan Athletic side who frustrated Blues to the maximum effect and forced an error out of Blues goalkeeper, Lee Camp.
A very positive first half contained very few chances, one of which fell to Dan Crowley. The number 7 drove towards the Wigan area, managed to shoot but his tame effort trickled past the bottom left hand corner.
In the 19th minute, Wigan came close. Williams fizzed the ball across the box but could not find his teammate Jamal Lowe. Thankfully for Blues, the scores stayed level.
Soon after Blues should have gone ahead. A good ball in from Villalba nearly found a stretching Kristian Pedersen befor hitting a flying Lukas Jutkiewicz. A really big chance that Blues had wasted.
At halftime, it looked like a game where the two teams did not want to lose. They went in level.
The second half was not one to be admired either. However Wigan took the upper hand and they started to pun The Blues back 4 under constant pressure.
Unsurprisingly, Wigan took the lead. Pilkington drove about 15 yards into The Blues half, took a hopeful shot that somehow crept through Lee Camp and rolled over the line. The second mistake Lee Camp has made in the space of a week.
Despite desperate efforts at the end, Blues failed to equalise. A sour atmosphere going around the social media platforms may pressurise Xuandong Ren to pull the trigger. However, it makes you wonder what manager that would bring attractive and fluent football would want to work under these owners.
