A night to forget for Garry Monk as Blues were narrowly defeated by a top West Brom side.
Blues had an early start, a Connor Mahoney corner fell to a free Gary Gardner who managed to find the roof of the net, Johnston had no chance.
41 minutes had been played, and Blues could have been 2-0 up. A cross from Connor Mahoney found the head of Lukas Jutkiewicz who found his header sail in Johnstone’s hands.
However, after lots of domination, Blues failed to clear a West Brom free kick and Gayle headed home. A poor goal to concede.
In the 59th minute, Lukas Jutkiewicz found the net from another Connor Mahoney corner. A ball to the back post found the talisman who scrambled the ball in to put the Blues back ahead.
It wasn’t long though and West Brom converted a spot kick after a controversial penalty got awarded. Jay Rodriguez sent can the wrong way to get the baggies onto level terms.
To make matters worse for Blues, The Albion scored through a Jake Livermore wonder strike outside the 18 yard box. Camp could have done better with the shot, but the power was overwhelming for them.
A late push at the end cam to nothing and Blues fell to their 5th consecutive defeat. In my opinion, Blues played well, but it’s the individual errors we need to get out of our system. The next 4 weeks will be full of ‘joys and sorrows’ but we will just need to ‘Keep right on till the end’ And hopefully look forward to an eventful summer.
