MATCH REPORT: Nottingham Forest 3 Birmingham City 0

After a strong start to the new campaign, Pep Clotet’s men looked to hold off a strong Forest side who appointed French manager Sabri Lamouchi in the summer.

Blues got off to a bright start. In the 10th minute, Gary Gardner found talisman Lukas Jutkiewicz, he brought the ball down and fired a shot at the forest goal but saw his effort result in a corner kick.

Just 5 minutes later and Forest had opened the scoring. Forest played a free kick short to Joe Lolley who drilled a shot straight through Lee Camp. 2 goals in 2 games against Blues at the City ground for Lolley.

Soon after, Forest doubled there 1 goal advantage. Joe Lolley crossed a ball in to the back post which found the head of Lewis Grabban who headed past a helpless Lee Camp.

The half time whistle went. The score was 2-0, but it could have been a lot worse for the boys in blue.

Just 20 minutes into the second half and Dawson added another. A corner kick found the Forest center back who headed the ball past Lee Camp.

12 minutes after, Forest could have had a fourth. Ameobi found himself free in the 6 yard box but could not convert his golden opportunity as he sent his effort blazing over the bar.

A very poor performance from Blues. The less said the better. However, Tuesday night is the perfect opportunity to redeem themselves and gain 3 points. Let’s hope the fans can get behind Pep and the players as they look to turn 4 points into 7 by Wednesday.

  1. Massive Team Selection Mistake; Everyone apart from Clotet knew that Forest would use wingers against use especially Lolley up against Pedersen who lets face it is not the greatest Full Back when facing a direct pacy Winger so common sense should have told him to play Seddon from the start ie to give Pederson cover and to supply crosses for Juke, Villalba is not a player who gets back to cover so basically it was a accident waiting to happen and it did big style. Seddon should be playing from the start in all matches.

  2. Been and the fence for a couple of seasons. A fan for sure, supporter not really. Butchered a past thread here, main culprits ADD, daft ness and craziness combined. Just lost 3 nil. BUT I’ve grown to love this club despite my horrible start as a fan. I’m all in. KRO
