Jutkiewicz: “We’re giving ourselves the opportunity to win games”

Lukas Jutkiewicz says the squad remain confident going into the final four games of the seasons and believes they’ve turned a corner in terms of creating chances in games.

Juke pulled one back on Tuesday night against Bristol, but it was a mountain to climb after already being 2-0 down after 27 minutes.

He’s now scored in three consecutive games, however chances from the midfield department have gone begging. Blues face league leaders Wolves on Sunday and a win for them will guarantee them the title.

Here’s what Jutkiewicz had to say following the defeat:

“We were disappointed because we had chances to win the game again.”

“We didn’t start well enough and we were playing catch-up from 15 minutes in really.

“We were then chasing to try and get an equaliser (when it was 2-1 to the Robins) and naturally you are going to leave yourself a little bit open on the counter-attack and that was the case.

“But at the same time, there’s no time to feel sorry for ourselves and we’ve got to get ourselves back up and go again on Sunday.

“On the positive side, results elsewhere went for us, although it’ s frustrating on the one hand because it was a great opportunity to create even more of a gap.

“We’re giving ourselves the opportunity to win games with the chances we’re creating, and we look more capable of picking up points.”

He then looked forward to the huge challenge that lies ahead at Molineux:

“As a centre-forward you want to score goals and I feel I should have had a couple more against Bristol,” he said.

“But I’ve got another one, and hopefully I can keep the run going and try and contribute more from now until the end of the season.

“We now go to Wolves which is a huge challenge.

“They’ve set the standards the whole season and they’re deservedly the top team in the league.”
