Home from home? Can we play you every week

Raining coming down from all angels as the train pulls into London… The fans favourite away day awaits. Fulham at Craven Cottage. A place of happy memories in recent seasons.

And 6 minutes in it was almost a sensational start for the travelling blues as Donaldson was clearly barged over in the area but the referee gave nothing… “This time!!!”

A minute later the home side had a great shot by Ayite saved by Kuszczak in front of the 3800 travelling blue noses.

Blues continued to press and attack and Tesche forced the home keeper Button into a fine save a minute after lashing one just wide on 14 minutes. From the resulting corner Shotton rose high but his glancing header went agonisingly wide of the up right.

22 minutes in and the exciting Che Adams was set free down the left but his attempted chip went straight to the out rushing Button. 3 minutes later the away side were awarded a penalty when Che Adams was bought down.

Big don took it and although he struck the ball well Fulham GK Button made a fantastic save down to his left and the chance had gone.

On 44 minutes Fulham were down to 10 men when the already booked Madl bought down Donaldson who would have been through on goal to receive his second yellow and leave the home side a man short with 45 to go.

HT 0-0

4 minutes into the second half and the referee again pointed to the penalty spot as Che Adams was bundled over from behind. With Maghoma sniffing around and the fans calling for him to take it, it was in fact Clayton Donaldson who stepped up and this time smashed it down the middle to give us the lead!

5 minutes later Maghoma did step up, but it was to take a free kick in a great position. His technique was perfect but it flew desperately close and out for a goal kick.

Blues were in control of the game and serving up plenty of chances, the only thing missing was the condiments, that was until the 79th minute when Fulham midfielder Malone curled an effort wide of the blues goal. A huge let off after a defensive mix up gifted him the chance.

On 89 minutes blues should have wrapped it up in style… With a twist and a flick Greg Stewart turned away from two defenders and set Cotterill free down the flank. The Welsh wizard lacking pace and in need of a scooter, as the defender closed him down his effort was weak and straight at the goal keeper. The ball rebounded back to number 11 who sent a cross over to Maghoma who’s volley was headed off the line. Blues were let off the line again deep into injury time as Malone’s downward headed bounced wide of the goal and the away side held on for well deserved 3 points.

FT 0-1

The fans were in fantastic voice and the weather didn’t damper the atmosphere…! I saw one fan swimming in the Thames after the game and even saw another fan arrive home with only one shoe on! Another away game awaits as we head to Reading on Tuesday night. If we play like we did at Fulham we’ll be coming away with the 3 points yet again!!
