Garry Monk opens contract talks with Michael Morrison

Following the all but dooming nine point deduction last week, the next question on the lips of many Blues fans was the future of captain Michael Morrison.

Well, it looks like talks with Morro was at the top of Monk’s to-do list as he’s opened talks with the 31-year-old as his contract runs out at the end of the season:

Morrison has scored 5 goals this season so far – on par with winger Jacques Maghoma. He’s racked up 150 appearences for the club since joining on an two-month emergency loan from Charlton back in October 2014.

It’s no doubt the defender has been a pivitol character in the dressing room this season and we hope he continues to lead the line at St Andrews for the foreseeable future.

What are your thought’s, was a new contract a no-brainer? Leave a comment below.

  1. If the club is finally able to move forward then its vital to hold onto Morrison and players like him. They obviously enjoy being apart of the club and the fans apreciate that.

  2. A true leader. Like Paul Hawkins says other players like him we need to keep hold off, if things are not going to be easy in the summer transfer window. And hopefully we can build a around Che ( But doubt it) to have a real go next season, without any obstacles. KRO

  3. He is our skipper and been solid this season! We need to keep him on a two year deal at least! I also thing Gary Gardiner needs to stay as he and Keify have been great together. We need 3/4 players added to the squad but I’m sure Monk knows that is we are to convert our fortunes into a playoff or promotion contender!! KRO
