Four more games until the fat lady starts to sing

It’s that time of the season where Blues fans are looking at other results, clinging on to dear hope that we’re so used to doing by now. However, as the saying goes…

“It’s not over until the fat lady sings.”

Right now, she’s lost her voice for four huge games that are coming thick and fast for Garry Monk’s men. The bid of survival starts with Hull City at home on Saturday. The Tigers thrashed Ipswich 3-0 on their own turf last and night and it could bode well for Blues as we travel to Portman Road after the international break, where Mick McCarthy couldn’t wait to equip his post-match hairdryer in the dressing room last night, so he resulted in doing so on the pitch.

Come Easter, a trip to the Macron stadium to face Bolton will be on the horizon for the boys in Blue. A ground we all know and well, pretend to love. The travelling Bluenoses will be hoping another saviour steps out on to the pitch that day and sends the away end into delirium, like Paul Caddis did those four years ago…

The day could be another make or break event before a crucial clash with Burton Albion at home waits in the wings. Whatever the outcome of these four games will no doubt determine the our Championship fate as the final five games look very troublesome indeed.

Four out of those five teams are currently sitting in the top half of the division, so getting any wins out of those will prove to be an up-hill struggle. I don’t want to sound an early alarm but that’s why a run over Easter will be key to staying in the second tier by the skin of our teeth… again.

It’s very much an eight horse race, but which three will fall at the hurdle? One Blues fan has kindly took the time out and predicted the remaining fixtures of each relegation candidate so you can place your bets:

Chris Pugh from the Tilton Talk Show (@AWCAIB) has tipped Sunderland, Burton and Burton/Sheffield Wednesday to go down based on the remaining fixtures, with Blues surviving on 47 points.

No easy pickings for any side, however Blues do appear to have the best run of games coming up in the next four weeks.

If Blues can build on the two goals scored away at high-flying Cardiff, I think the rut could may be well and truly over come the Bristol City game and hopefully we’ll be sitting there thinking what all the fuss was about.

However, it’s Blues and we certainly never do it the easy way. Let’s just hope the happy abode is just around the corner and not at St Andrews biting our nails at midday on May 6th.

What do you think, is this the season we deserve to go down or do you see Monk steering us to safety?

  1. Not sure what planet you are on with those results but dont think we will pick up anymore than 7 points this season. we just arent good enough. its ok having a good first or good 2nd half every game but we need a full 90 minutes which is something we have only done really against cardiff at home

  2. Ipswich is at home mate not away ,not sure that helps any tho lol ,of the 4 easier games you mention are they easier we lost 6 1 at Hull and they are a different team now playing well ,we lost at Ipswich and Burton and tbf although they lost Burton battered us in cup game January when we were actually playing well ,and we drew at home to Bolton in a dire game ,Bolton away very tough I think if we get 6 points from them it’s all we will ,truth is league don’t lie after 37 games we deserve to be here ,some mention bad luck with injuries but just look at Sheff Wed they have had basically an entire 1st team out for months and will stay up
