Chelsea Defender Set to Join Blues.

23

After lots of speculation concerning the centre back position at Blues, it looks like they have finally found there man. Jake Clarke-Salter is a young and promising center back who looks to be joining Blues (on loan) in the coming days.

As Pep Clotet is looking to play a formation involving 3 center backs, it was a position Blues had to strengthen this summer to persue with his ideas.

After spending time with Chris Coleman at Sunderland in January 2018, it did not look like Salter could adapt to the Championship style. However, last season Salter enjoyed a excellent loan spell out in Holland which earnt himself a place in the England U21 squad for the European Championships. As well as this, he also grabbed the attention of a few Championship clubs.

If Blues get this deal over the line it would mean that we would have a ball playing center back, exactly what we have been craving over pre-season.

  1. Slowly but surely we are putting together a team which will not only compete in this league but have the team to finish in the play offs. I still feel we desperately need another forward and perhaps a wide player. KRO

  2. We desperately need a striker. While it’s heartening to see the youngsters making waves we cannot go into the season with only Juke and Vassell up front. When I look at the side I wonder where the goals are gonna come from. We have exciting talent in Bellingham and Bailey but we need an experienced striker to share the workload up top. If we get a serious injury to our senior strikers we cannot leave ourselves short.

  3. What planet are you on Pods? Right now we are are huge relegation candidates and I’ve never even heard of Crowley or this lad before we got linked with them. I honestly really don’t want to be negative but logic dictates we’re in for a rough season and expectation levels need to be lowered dramatically.

    • Haha, I’m guessing you meant villa park there mr/ mrs anonymous and have also taken time out your day to go through my Twitter page! Like I said earlier, hate to be negative and pray my gut feeling is wrong, but I really feel like it could be relegation this time and if it is… why not make some money off it to soften the blow? I’ll still be supporting them no matter what league we’re in!

  4. Never heard of these guys we signed who ever heard of Big kief till he signed no one moans about him in the end of the day pep has to go with his gut and choose players he sees to make a team although I would like to see us get a wide man and striker it’s important to get signings over the line

  5. So many people on here are so negative. The changes good the change was needed and I can see us being a surprise package I know of two players coming in which can only make us better.

  6. My first Blues match 1953 so I’m probably one of the longest sufferers. I have no doubt these assett strippers will be the worst owners we’ve ever had. If we survive this season without being relegated I will be happily amazed! We need major investment on proven players, the old saying Kids win you nothing is where we’re at. My blood probably runs blue but the season ahead will probably be embarrassing!

  7. Doom mongers above:We have a good balance of experience and young players in the squad, couple more additions would be nice but I am really optimistic and excited about the coming Season

  8. I understand the pessimism. These two signings are exciting. Get on Wikipedia and click on the videos. If you are not impressed then you are missing something!

  9. where are the goals coming from no prolific striker on the books and all hopes on belllingham …could be a long season centre back keeper and wde man plus a forward ….if only we could afford Dwight gayle I recon we would be promoted ….without someone like that relegation a possibility…kro

  10. The truth is nobody knows how good or bad these players will be, or indeed the whole squad. So stop pretending you know the rough outcome of next season. You don’t.

  11. I also have never heard of Crowley or Clarke-Salter. I think we already were all aware that we were never going to be able to hold onto Che, Jota going – whatever!, I still remember his really poor performance at home to Villa. Shame we couldn’t tempt Mahoney for another season though, The shock of the departure of Morrison, being offered only a year contract – what was Ren thinking (or was he in fact, actually thinking!). What has happened to the pursuit of Bright Enobakhare? I agree with Steve Cox, it’s going to be a very long season, maybe we won’t finish bottom, lets see how Barnsley get on – famous last words.
