BREAKING: Harry Redknapp named as Blues manager

Harry Redknapp has been appointed as Gianfranco Zola’s successor, who resigned on Monday following the 2-0 defeat to Burton Albion.

Key points:

– Steve Cotterill, former manager of Bristol City, will be his assistant.

– If Blues avoid relegation, the two parties will settle a plan of action for next season.

Redknapp has spent his managerial career at the likes of AFC Bournemouth, West Ham United, Portsmouth, Tottenham Hotspur and QPR.

Notably he saved Portsmouth from the drop in 2006, earning the nickname ‘Harry Houdini’.

Redknapp, who turned 70 this month, earned promotion from the Championship with Portsmouth and QPR, but has been out of work for two years after undergoing surgery on his knee.

Further details are yet to be announced, but we will update with the latest.
