News has emerged Blues were the only club to submit a formal offer for Croatia defender Domagoj Vida.
According to The Milliyet newspaper, Blues tabled a bid of £12million for the Croatia international which was turned down.
The 29-year-old was subject to a move to England after attracting interest during the World Cup from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton and West Ham.
According to the Standard, The Gunners were rumoured to be making a £26.9million move for the defender before the transfer deadline.
However, no agreements were made despite Besiktas president Fikret Orman travelling to London on Tuesday to trigger a sale.
