Birmingham City Transfer Roundup: What next for Blues?

16

During recent weeks, the Blues faithful have endured one of the Club’s worst periods in the last 5 years; Garry Monk’s sacking has wiped out the fans’ end-of -season positivity, leaving them feeling at their lowest point since the Carson Yeung era.

In spite of recent events, both fans and players must keep their heads up. They must dig deep and find a way of looking forward rather than dwelling on the past. The Club’s transfer dealings in the up-coming weeks will most likely define next season, and it is vitally important that fans get behind the team – the current negativity cannot be allowed to continue.

So which players have made Blues news this week?

Che Adams (Departure)

Che Adams had the season of his life in 2018/19, bagging 22 goals and assisting 4, the talisman was bound to be under the Premier-League spotlight.

After interest from several Premier League clubs in January, it was a given that Che was going to go this summer, and so he did. Southampton payed a reported 16 million pound fee for the striker who will surely be a huge miss for Blues.

But will we be able to replace him?

Michael Morrison (Departure)

Michael Morrison joined Blues from Charlton Athletic on an emergency loan in October 2014. During his loan period at the Club, Morrison showed the true qualities of a centre back, exactly what Gary Rowett was looking for.

Michael established himself as a first-team player, and his deal was made permanent in January 2015.

This season, the skipper was one of the mainstay first-team players and made 44 appearances for the club.

However, the club were unable to agree a new deal with Morrison, and he is now a free agent.

One who will be truly missed.

Michael Morrison, Birmingham City

Jefferson Montero (Rumored /Incoming)

After working under Caretaker Head Coach Pep Clotet at Swansea, this signing would be a great one for Blues.

The Ecuadorean is a skillful winger, something Blues are lacking, and would surely offer something to trouble the opposition. However, it is highly rumored that he would encounter work-permit issues.

Despite this, he is a very good player and would add depth to our squad.

Would you take the Ecuadorean?

George Puscas (Rumored /Incoming)

As Che Adams departs for Southampton, it is rumored that 23 year old, George Puscas, is wanted at St. Andrews.

Puscas played extremely well at the U21 European Championships and caught the eye of multiple European clubs, one of them being Blues.

However, George has also been linked with Sheffield United.

If he was to come to Blues, would he be the man to replace Che?

Pablo Mari (rumored /incoming)

As skipper Michael Morrison leaves Blues, Blues have been rumored to be in negotiations with Manchester City’s Pablo Mari.

With Blues looking to implement a new style of play next season, Mari could be the man to help Blues play out from the back.

Blues face competition from Levante for the centre back.

If this deal goes through, he would be a great addition to the side.

This completes the main transfer news now, let’s hope there’s more to come in the coming weeks.

  1. It’s time the board got realistic. As even if a cheap striker does well with 12 goals we will still be 10 goals down from last season ..the board are responsible for the position we are in …we need goalscorers ..we need PEP to come out and be open with the fans
And need a good signing ..

  2. The owners and the board have messed up BIG TIME and now they are saying they will bring in better players YOU WONT PAY THE MONEY NEEDED FOR BETTER PLAYERS SO GOD KNOWS WHAT WE WILL GET

  3. Just another day I in the life of a Blues fan, we start to look to the future then another shot storm hits St Andrew’s.
Another round of managers in and out until we find a good in ,oh then sack him.

  4. I firmly believe that the managements situation is just a temporary measure waiting for Monk to get a new job and to come knocking for his team. They can then all go without paying any compensation. Pretty sure the ‘real’ new manager has already been lined up.

  5. I guess if Pep or someone spilled the beans on the clubs plans it would stop the moaning but on the other hand all clubs and agents would know what we have to spend and jack the prices up resulting in no decent signings, which then provokes even more moaning. Sit tight and wait as all good things come to those who wait.

  6. It’s not looking good right now. We’ve been linked with players 7out 0 in. Surely they have something lined up. We can’t go into the championship with a bunch of kids they will be the whipping boys they might have a good 7 or 8 games but then they will burnout.

  7. Morrison was keen and commited to staying at bcfc. I am guessing he was told he would be given a contract months ago but because of the transfer embargo was promised by monk he would have to wait. We have screwed him over. He is settled in solihull with his family and this must be a real kick in the teeth for a player who I think improved over his contract at blues.

  8. Stopped going to st Andrew’s years ago same old shit then as now no ambition at all and fuck the fans they are daft enough to still keep coming keep right on but where to

  9. Hi fellow Bluenoses
I know that we have got bigger things to worry about at present
but what are your opinions on the new home kit / strip ?
What is that grey blue on the sleeve all about ?
Even the main blue is not our traditional true royal blue .
    Just saying .
