Blues in talks with former Liverpool keeper

News has emerged that Blues are in talks with former Liverpool keeper Brad Jones.

It is understood to be a free transfer with Reading also looking to match his terms, according to The Sun.

This news comes after Blues target goalkeeper Wes Foderingham saying he would consider a move to Birmingham. Colin Doyle and Darren Randolph have both left the club leaving the only senior goal keeper Nick Townsend.

The Australian is currently without a club after being released along side Glen Johnson from Liverpool. He played for Middlesbrough for over a decade as well as having a number of loan spells at a succession of lower league clubs; Stockport, Rotherham United, Blackpool and Sheffield Wednesday, he also had a brief loan spell in Ireland with Shelbourne.

In August 2010, he made a £2.3m move to Liverpool, making only 11 appearances. It seems Gary Rowett is wasting no time getting a new number 1.

Jones was mainly kept as a second-choice keeper at Liverpool and may seek a regular starting place at his next club.

Him and his girlfriend have been enjoying the stunning scenery of the Maldives, with Jones’ fiancée documenting their trip with a series of Instagram posts.

They have been active with surfing, cycling and snorkeling amongst the activities, before Jones weighs up his options in the transfer market in the upcoming months.

What do you think, would this be a good signing for Blues? Let us know in the comments below!
