Why a Lois Diony deal could still be on for Blues

Blues have been among several English clubs interested in the signature of striker Lois Diony, but could a deal still be on?

The likes of Bournemouth, Brighton and Wolves have all been reported having an interested in the 24-year-old. Now, this week there has been a few developments:

French giants Lyon have pulled out of a proposed deal

Diony has not started his pre-season training with his current club Dijon.

Half an hour ago (11:20am) he has posted a picture of him at Bordeaux Airport on his Instagram story

This indicates a move is expected to happen. Could it be to St Andrews?

What we do know is Diony is only on €20,000 a month (around £17,000). Redknapp may have to get the check book out if he is to secure any deal but at the moment he’s on a fairly low wage.

He ended the campaign with 11 goals in 35 games and helped the club avoid an immediate return to L2. His eight assists were vital.

Bournemouth enquired about his availability only to be told Dijon will not let him leave for any less than £13m this summer.

That said the People reckoned Harry Redknapp could get him for £3m.

Whatever the price, he would certainly improve Blues’ firing line, with only Donaldson, Che and Jutkiewicz fighting for that number 9 spot.

*Also worth noting, there’s a flight arriving in Brum just after 1…

What do you think, is now a good chance to go all out to try and sign Diony? Let us know in the comments below!
