News emerged last week that Blues were keeping tabs on Fleetwood frontman Devante Cole.
Sheffield United were understood to be in advanced talks with the 22-year-old, but instead they’ve signed Manchester United forward James Wilson on loan.
That news leaves Blues at the top of the list, with Reading, Wigan and Rangers also interested.
However, it is apparent Rangers aren’t looking to spend in this transfer window because of their financial woes.
Cole is currently being valued at £650,000 as he is in the final six months of his contract.
With 12 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions for Uwe Rosler’s side, he is an attractive prospect for Cotterill as he looks to find striking back up to Southampton loanee Sam Gallagher.
The League One side will be listening to any offers this month, as he will be able to leave for free in the Summer.
Cole, son of Manchester United legend Andy, was on trial at Blues under Rowett but a contract never transpired.
What do you think, would Cole be suitable back up to in-form Gallagher?
