Transfers: Blues make double bid for Bristol City duo

Blues have made a double bid for Bristol’s Aden Flint and Joe Bryan, Football Insider have revealed.

This news comes after a lot of talk about Flint joining Redknapp at St Andrews and even with Bristol boss Johnson admitting he’s unhappy with Harry’s comments about the proposed move.

It was reported yesterday that Leeds were prepared to hand Flint a pay rise and had enquired about Bryan as a replacement for Charlie Taylor. Now, it appears Blues are set to win the race for the defensive duo.

It is believed a £5million bid has been made for the pair as Redknapp looks to bolster his defensive options even further after signing Marc Roberts from Barnsley.

Flint has established himself as a ‘rock at the back’ for the Robins and he also has an eye for goal, scoring 28 goals in 170 appearances for the club.

He was awarded Player of the Year for the 2015/16 season and helped the club narrowly avoid relegation.

As for left-back Bryan, the 23-year-old has racked up nearly 200 first-team appearances in all competitions. He can also move into left midfield if needed.

Consistently impressive performances on the pitch have led to Bryan being hailed as one of the academy’s best success stories.

With Bristol reluctant to let Flint go, do you think Harry can finally pull this one off by meeting the asking price?

  1. 5m, you are having a laugh. Flint is on a 4 year contract and is worth more than that alone. If BCFC paid 4M for Baker from Villa then this is far wide of the mark. Flint is a high goal scoring centre back which is pretty rare these day. You are looking at closer to 10 million for the two players even if BCFC want to sell which I doubt they do.

  2. What does this ‘journalist’ mean ‘won the race’ – that would infer that Bristol City (rather than ‘Bristol’) have accepted bids, the players have agreed terms, and are being unveiled at St Andrews.

Since we signed Baker its obvious Flint will be moving on (and good luck to him). So you can fight that out with Boro and Leeds. If we get back for what we paid for Baker (circa 5m) then its cost neutral and would suit everyone.

Bryan is under contract for another 3 years, statistically the best left back in the Championship so the chances of us giving him to you for nothing 3 days before the start of the season are pretty much nil. Plus we don’t have to sell.
