Yes you’ve guessed it, we’ve been linked with another defender. This time it’s Bristol City’s Aden Flint.

The 28-year-old, is also being linked with Leeds United, according to PA Sport. He helped City seal promotion from League One to the Championship in the 2014/15 season and has an eye for goal too.

The 6ft 6in centre-back has scored an impressive 28 times for Bristol City, including a famous hat-trick in the 8-2 win over Walsall in the 2015/16 season.

He was also awarded Player of the Year for that season and helped them narrowly avoid relegation.

It looks like Redknapp intends to improve his backline further before any striking options are brought in.

While no bid has been put in as of yet, Blues are reported to be close to making a move. However it won’t be plane sailing trying to get his signature. Flint signed a new contract in December at Ashton Gate until 2020.

Downing edging closer

In other news, the move for Stewart Downing has gained more light, according to Mirror Sport.

The former England international has been told he can leave the club following the arrival of Garry Monk.

Blues are in desperate need of a winger with the departures of both Kerim Frei and Viv Solomon-Otabor, who left for seasiders Blackpool today.

The report also states that Redknapp still wants a left-back, two wingers (including Downing), two strikers (including Jordan Hugill) and potentially another centre back with Flint being the latest target along side Aston Villa’s Tommy Elphick.

  1. Harry’s no mug he can get the best out of Downing and if rumours are correct then he may only use him to give bcfc the clout we need to be top half of the table then it’s bye bye

  2. With a week to go they need to push transfers through and quickly Nahki Wells would be a good addition Hugill a waste of money
