There was a nervous twitch of the bottom when Derby County decided to sack Paul Clement and replaced him with Derby academy director and former Birmingham City defender Darran Wassall until the end of the season.
Linked again was Gary Rowett. Here we go again.
Fear not. Well, that is if you are one of the few that believe what the Daily Mail reports. They have reported that Nigel Pearson is the man Derby are after and are looking to appoint him in the summer. Following the form of Leicester City in the top flight this season, many have been even more impressed by the achievements of Pearson the previous year and the raw, hungry side he put together at The Foxes. It would also remain an attractive proposition from a personal point of view given he will remain in the East Midlands.
Following his fine work with Hull City and Leicester City in the past, he fits the bill about re-modelling a group to fit his belief for a strong team ethic.
The newspaper have also reported that paying to get Rowett out of his Blues contract is off-putting, particularly as a new contract has been signed, though they are not entirely against that option.
The Rams can appoint who they like so long as it is not Rowett.
