Following the 3-1 defeat in the hands of Bristol last night, Blues still sit 3 points off the drop with four vital games remaining.
Wolves, Sheffield United, QPR and Fulham all await and Monk will be hoping his side can keep the momentum going despite last night’s uncharacteristic display compared to the past few weeks:
“They are all big games and we are focused on our reasons and not anyone else. We need to continue how we have been doing. I have seen a progression and seen what we are capable of.
“We always knew it was a difficult situation we were coming into. I think we have done well with it. I have got trust in the players and we are fighting. We are clearly good enough and we have shown that. We need to do whatever it takes to get the points we need.”
Although Jutkiewicz pulled one back for Blues, Matty Taylor delivered the final nail in the coffin. You could say the scoreline flattered Bristol, however they were the much more clinical side as Blues did have their fair share of goalmouth activity.
“We had more than enough chances to score the goals and get a result here and that is the disappointing thing. It’s an opportunity missed for us.
“Like on Saturday you have to take your chances at any level and especially in the situation we are in.
“We are lucky in the sense that the other results have gone our way and we are in the same position we were in before the game albeit with a game less.”
Monk continued saying his side need to be more clinical infront of goal:
“Credit to Bristol they were very clinical and they are a good side. They are playing for their reasons and we are playing for ours. It was always going to be a difficult game and we more than created enough chances to warrant some points from this game. And that is why it feels like an opportunity missed.”
Bless make the short trip to Molineux looking for any kind of result against the league leaders.
What do you think, can Blues get anything from Sunday’s Derby?
