Marc Skinner pleased by clinical Blues performance against Liverpool

Birmingham City Ladies manager Marc Skinner was impressed by his side’s performance after a superb 4-0 win at home to Liverpool on Sunday.

It was the Blues’ biggest win of the season so far and makes it two wins in a row after they saw off Manchester City back in February.

“I was pleased with our attacking display,” said Skinner. “I thought we looked dangerous.

“I want us to score lots and lots of goals but I want clean-sheets too.

“Our football today made Liverpool bank up but we were clinical in the first half.

“I was trying to tell the girls not to be complacent because it was almost too easy.

“I don’t mean that to be disrespectful to Liverpool but our game plan was working so well that we had to guard against complacency.

“It was a bit of a weird game really and I felt we almost wrapped the game up by half-time.”

With three games in the space of a week for Birmingham City Ladies, the manager admitted there will be a “necessity” to rotate his squad.

“The girls have to deserve it to get a place in the starting line-up,” said Skinner.

“I won’t rotate for the sake of it but I just think necessity will mean we will have to rotate at some point.

“But I believe in the whole squad and if they get their opportunity then they need to take it.

“You want headaches as a manager when it comes to team selection.”

The Blues travel to the Stoke Gifford Stadium to take on Bristol City on Wednesday evening.
