Kerim Frei ‘wants to return’ to his former club Besiktas

Blues midfielder Kerim Frei wants to return to Besiktas, according to reports online.

Translated from the various Turkish sources, Frei was noted saying:

“I am unhappy in England, I want to wear the shirt of Besiktas again”

The 23-year-old only featured 13 times under Gianfranco Zola, scoring goal of the season at the club. Albeit he only scored one goal, Frei was starting to become a fan favourite but he fell down the pecking order.

Frei racked up 68 appearances for Besiktas, scoring 7 goals, but scored this worldly for Blues:

Frei signed for £2.2m in January and joined in search of first team football, but his last start was against Preston back in February.

Only making the bench since Redknapp’s arrival, whether or not he see’s his future at threat under the new Blues boss remains to be seen. What we do know is Blues fans won’t want to see the back of him just yet.

What do you think Blues fans, would you be sad to see him go?

  1. Wouldn’t be missed as far as I’m concerned. Apart from the free kick, what else did he actually do? Wouldn’t, and couldn’t track back. Wouldn’t tackle when he should have. Far too easily brushed off the ball and passed more to the opposition than a team mate. Was well overpriced by about £2.1 million.
