Gary Rowett has played down speculation linking him to the vacant Derby position and says he is more focused to drive Blues into the top six of the Championship.
Derby sacked Paul Clement earlier in the week and the bookies were quick to put short odds on Rowett.
Because he has done so well at Blues he is one of the first to be linked with jobs, as we have seen with the likes of Fulham.
Here’s what he had to say to the press:
“It’s a natural link, I live in Derbyshire, my lad goes to the games, I played for them”, said Rowett.
“It’s another fantastic club – like the one we are at now.
“It’s about the eighth club we have been linked with since we have been here.
“You know it’s going to come up, you know it’s going to be the same sort of conversation but I can only say the same sort of things.
“I am flattered by the link – although the link is just in the media and has certainly not come from any club approach or anything like that.
“The big thing for me is it means we are doing well and having some sort of success here.
“I will reiterate we are incredibly focused on what we are doing, incredibly focused on trying to win the next game because we lost the last game and incredibly focused because there are 16 games to go and I still think we are in a fantastic chance of getting in the play-offs.
“It’s a chance, we know we have got to almost play out of our skins every week to get there – but it is a chance.”
