Premier League leaders Leicester City are the latest team to be rumoured targeting Birmingham starlet Demarai Gray.
Transfer talk has shadowed him for a long time at Blues and after signing a 3 year contract with the club, Liverpool, Bournemouth and now Leicester are interested in taking him away from St Andrews.
Gray hasn’t been at his usual form so far this season, with only one goal and one assist, however he still poses a threat. Liverpool are known for taking in English talent, however Leicester may be the better option for the 19-year-old as its not too far from his hometown.
Gray, who has a £3.75m release clause in his contract, has made 21 appearances this season. A lad with huge potential, however he hasn’t been showing it on the pitch lately.
Jacques Maghoma and David Cotterill have so far shown more on the pitch:
Maghoma – 3 goals 2 assists
Cotterill – 2 goals 3 assists
In comparison Gray has started more games than these two, yet his performances haven’t produced a lot. Gary Rowett’s aim is to ‘get him into more advanced positions’, Blues fans will be wondering where his form of last season has gone.
Liverpool scouts were rumoured to be at the game against Huddersfield on Saturday. Also with his release clause dropping down to £3m in the summer, the youngster may be tempted to move on if Blues don’t get promotion.
