Steve Cotterill is keen to return to Blues for unfinished business, according to sources online.

The former Bristol City boss was ‘under the impression’ he was going to be Redknapp’s successor after the season closed and the former Spurs boss would go upstairs.

Blues survived on the last day at Cotterill’s former club, but looking back, the 53-year-old was very much a big part of survival.

Redknapp only earned 4 points in 8 games, 2 less than when Cotterill was shadowing him and that was just in 3 games!

A £1.7million one-year deal was enough for Harry to stay on in May. Next thing you know Cotterill was on Sky Sports, don’t blame him really…

What we do know is he’s been sorely missed this season and many Blues fans were quick to reminice on social media about bringing him back to St Andrews following Redknapp’s departure.

Lee Carsley barking his orders today, let's hope he can get the lads pumped for Derby💪 #KeepRightOn #BCFC

Blues currently sit in 23rd place, with the worst form in the division (6 straight defeats) and with former player Lee Carsley warming the hot seat alongside a familiar face in Robbo.

No disrespect to those two, they seem to have brought the smiles back on a number of the lads and hopefully the confidence too. The owners need to think hard about this decision because we don’t want another manager sacked by Christmas.

According to the source, Cotterill feels he never feels he got the credit he deserved for drilling the team and guiding them to grind out results. Unfinished business maybe?

Here’s what Blues fans think about him coming back:

What do you think, should Blues bring him back or do you think we should carry on the ‘big name’ trend? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @bcfcfollowers!

  1. As a Blue nose for many years I real feel Steve Cotterill is the man for the job t help gel the new side and bring in some Discipline

  2. I’d give Cotterill the job and have Carsley as his number 2
Cotterill has got the experience of managing in the Championship
I’d be gutted if we never kept Carsley on though
He done well with Brentford in the short time he was in charge
    KRO

  4. I feel the same as a lot of fans do that cott’s should return to St Andrews he has a good pedigree & good knowledge of the game, when he left blues things started to spiral down hill so for me he would be the right choice him & Lee Carsley would do well together, my second choice would Lee carsley for sure a true Blue through & through without a doubt KRO.

  5. I do not understand this fascination some people have got with Cotterill. Yes he helped us last season but the team is different now and how would he fit in his managerial style with our team. Also he don’t have an impressive CV, never managed in the prem (#2 at Sunderland with Wilkinson won 2 games in 27 got the sack) he got Bristol promoted to the Championship but then was sacked. We still have time to choose the correct manager and in my opinion Cotterill is. Not good enough.
