Blues are closing in on the signing of Peterborough winger Marcus Maddison.
However, Villa may want to make their move too. According to HITC, Steve Bruce has been eyeing the former Newcastle man for some time.
Maddison has just one year left on his contract at Posh and it looks like his time there is coming to an end.
Since arriving from Gateshead in 2014, he has scored nine goals in over 100 appearances at the club. Despite his goalscoring record, Maddison is considered to be one of the brightest talents in League One.
The 23-year-old has proved to be a major threat and looks like he can make the cut in the Championship.
The winger, who is left footed so can play on both wings, is currently valued at £650k. However, a higher bid would have to be submitted to lure him away from the Cambridgeshire club.
Posh boss McCann is hoping to keep hold of his man ahead of the new season:
“There is interest in Marcus and so there should be as he has been one of the biggest influences in League One in recent seasons,” McCann told the Peterborough Telegraph.
“But I’m hopeful he will still be with us when the season starts in earnest.”
What do you think, should Harry Redknapp make a move before Villa for the transfer listed man?
