Blues to compete with Premier League sides for ‘non-league sensation’

Blues will try to fend off competition with Leicester and Swansea for the signature of Solihull Moors striker Oladapo Afolayan, according to the Daily Star.

The former Chelsea trainee has scored four goals in his first three starts for the Moors. With the 19-year-old playing just down the road from St Andrews, there’s no wonder Blues scouts are first to watch him.

Afolayan joined in February but is still studying an Engineering degree at Loughborough University, training only once a week.

His displays certainly haven’t gone unnoticed; in the Championship, Barnsley and Blackburn are also understood to be tracking the youngster’s progress.

Having already had a scholarship in Toronto, the youngster already has a wider understanding of the game, which is a big reason why Champions Leicester are sniffing around.

Boss Liam McDonald said:

“He’s added raw pace and he’s technically very good.”

Afolayan will hope to follow in the footsteps of Wigan striker Omar Bogle, who made his name at Solihull before moving to Grimsby in 2015.

Would Blues be able to tempt a move from Solihull to B9?
