So it’s finally been confirmed and no, “that” mystery player isn’t Mehdi Nafti or Emile Heskey. It’s actually Dwight Tiendalli, who spent some time with Swansea City back in 2012. It didn’t work out terribly well for the Dutchman and after a loan spell at Middlesbrough, the pacy full-back is back looking for first team action elsewhere.
Many supporters had backed Gary Rowett to go and sign some competition for Jonathan Grounds at full-back, and this is the precise move that may keep the former Oldham man on his toes. Off course, no deal has been signed just yet but Rowett’s willingness to take the full-back to Marbella ahead of the likes of Ronan Hale or Reece Brown signals his intent to potentially bring him in.
Here’s the tweet from Birmingham City themselves that finally confirmed it was Tiendalli that was on-trial with the club:
What do you think, would Tiendalli cut the mustard at this level, and do you think some competition was needed in the left-back department?
