Birmingham are expected to sign Brentford striker Montell Moore today after they agree to terminate his contract.
It’s deadline day and Gary Rowett is looking to bolster his attacking options even more.
According to Sky Sports, Moore is expected to sign today after being on trial at the club in early January.
The striker had been with the club since the age of seven and came through the ranks at Griffin Park.
The 20-year-old impressed after scoring on his debut at Dagenham & Redbridge in last season’s 6-6 draw in the League Cup, before agreeing a three year contract.
Birmingham stated: “Moore’s trial is in keeping with Blues Development Squad policy of looking at emerging players, from youth and reserve ranks, league or non-league.”
He was top scorer for the youth team in the 2013/14 campaign, with nine goals in 16 games, and also made seven appearances for the under-21s during that season.
Moore has however had troubles off the pitch – convicted for stolen goods, so the striker is in need of a fresh start on and off the field.
There is no question that Moore has the talent to make it as a Championship striker but it appears that his immaturity has worn the patience of the staff at Brentford. However Gary Rowett may be able to get the best out of the youngster.
