Third choice goalkeeper Nick Townsend is set to leave Birmingham City.
According to Often Partisan he is believed to be on his way to Barnsley after Blues are said to have accepted a bid for the 20-year-old.
Barnsley’s first choice keeper was Ross Turnbull until he joined Leeds United on a free transfer on July 15 leaving the Tykes only with 23 year-old Adam Davies as their main number 1.
By this evidence Townsend would be a great signing for them as the other keeper on board, Christian Dibble, has very little experience.
After the signings of ex Man United stopper Tomasz Kuszczak and Adam Legzdins and with Connal Trueman and Jake Weaver as backup, Gary Rowett may welcome a transfer fee for someone who isn’t likely to feature this season.
Often Partisan said:
Townsend signed a two-year deal with Birmingham City in May of this year. The club have as yet declined to comment on the rumour.
What do you think, should we let him go?
