Charlie Wellings inspired Birmingham City Ladies to a 3-0 win over Everton on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the Marine Travel Arena.
Ellen White also scored her fifteenth goal of the season to add the gloss to the Blues’ last away trip of the campaign.
The win leaves Marc Skinner’s side in fifth with a top-three finish still in contention with a win on the final day.
Birmingham began the brighter of the two sides and early chances from captain Kerys Harrop and Wellings warned the hosts of things to come.
But it was not until the 20th minute that the visitors broke the deadlock with a sublime long-range effort from Wellings.
Marisa Ewers found Wellings before the young striker turned Gabby George before unleashing her 30-yard effort past goalkeeper Kirstie Levell.
A fortunate ricochet off of the referee almost gave Blues a second shortly after.
The attempted clearance struck the official before falling to White who was closed down by George before she could take full advantage.
After the break Everton responded with chances from Courtney Sweetman-Kirk and Danielle Turner but failed to find the crucial breakthrough.
The visitors reasserted their dominance on the game with a second goal, 10 minutes into the second half.
Meaghan Sargeant’s long-range clearance was headed into the path of Wellings, who took the ball down before firing it low across the keeper.
Then with five minutes remaining of the game White had her moment to shine with a tremendous strike of her own.
Picking the ball up mid-way through the Everton half, she unleashed a 30-yard effort into the top corner right in front of the travelling support.
The ladies side return to St Andrew’s for their next and final game of the season as they host a Reading side with five former Blues players in the squad.
