MATCH REPORT – Blues 1 Nottingham Forest 0 – Finally three points

A game where Blues needed a big result, no ifs or buts and a game fans sensed was do or die, as a loss could make blues fans see a possible reality of relegation.

However, it wasn’t to be that way as right at the beginning of the game in the 5th minute Che Adams opened the scoring and sent St. Andrews into delirium. The visitors Forest didn’t seem like they were ever in the game, especially with Blues’s tactful play. Forest’s late first-half domination of possession seemed like they were going to get a foothold in the game and hit back at Cotterill’s Blues, but Birmingham held off and managed to stay in the lead at halftime.

As the second half began, Blues fans were just hoping their team could hold on for a much-needed victory!
A booking for Mikael Kieftenbeld early in the second half as he was diving in pretty carelessly in an attempt to win the ball, but fouling Tyler Walker whilst he was at it. Tyler Walker was probably Forests most likely player to do anything special or change the game, he was the man on free kick duty for them.

As the visitors came into the game a bit more, they had a few more attempts on goal with Zac Clough coming close just before Birmingham’s Jaques Maghoma won a free kick deep in the away half. Both teams were going at it like hammer and tongs with goal scorer Che Adams trying his luck for a second but nothing came of that and for Nottingham Forest, it wasn’t to be their day. This is Blues’s third win of the season after beating Bristol City and Sheffield Wednesday before going on a rotten run up to now.

Blues now travel to Middlesbrough on Wednesday and then to Sheffield United on Saturday, hopefully, the season has now kickstarted.
