In the summer of 2017, Harry Redknapp’s Birmingham City managed to acquire 3 of Brentford’s top players: Harlee Dean, right back Maxime Colin and record signing Jota.This fixture was always going to be one to look forward to.
Blues were the team who started on the front foot with a golden chance for Lukas Jutkiewicz who only had to put it past the keeper but couldn’t manage to. However, in the 26th minute club captain Michael Morrison scored a header on his 150th appearance for the club; well deserved considering the start Blues had had.
After the goal, Blues saw chances go by which they should have scored. In the 42nd minute though, Brentford won a free kick on the edge of the eighteen yard box and caught out Blues goalkeeper Lee Camp at the near post. The two teams went into the break level.
The second half was looking good for Blues until a bizarre sending off for central midfielder Maikel Kieftenbeld and manager Garry Monk. It was a nail biting half ahead for the Blues.
After the fourth official indicated there was a minimum of 7 minutes of additional time, Blues goalkeeper,Lee Camp, made a great save to secure a point and make it 7 games unbeaten for Birmingham.
Garry Monk’s side will look forward to a fixture against Rotherham at St Andrews. Will they pick up their second win?
