A really poor result on Saturday at the hands of London club Millwall, who are floating mid table. Blues really needed to win the game after a second city derby loss to Aston Villa last weekend.
Cotterill kept Colin and Jenkinson as the full backs with Grounds still out injured.
The game began mixed, both teams went for it and both teams needed the result, for blues to keep their heads above water and Millwall to continue a strong surviving season. Craig Gardner was introduced back into the side and he was in the mix of things taking shots at the Millwall keeper but a lot of them were off target.
Millwall had a spell in the game where they dominated the boys in royal blue but Blues soaked most of Neil Harris’ sides pressure. Blues had the better of what was an entertaining first half but none of the teams really got a foot hold in the match.
Blues had first half chances, more than the visitors from south Bermondsey.
Second half commenced and it was Millwall who started the brighter with chances here and there, they hogged possession until Blues grew into the home team stature and halted Millwall’s demise, with even more chances Birmingham grew ever so closer to those precious three points but late Millwall domination took the points away from Steve Cotterill’s side. A goal in the 77th minute by Fred Onyedinma saw off the Blues and secured the Lions three points to take back to the den.
