Blues vs Millwall: Preview
Blues take on Millwall at the weekend looking to bounce back from defeat. Millwall have won only one of their last 5 fixtures including an FA Cup defeat to League One Rochdale following a replay. Blues should be able to beat Millwall and with the gap between us and the dropzone at a mere two points it’s going to be important that we do.
Midfielder Cheikh NDoye is suspended for this fixture having seen red during the derby at the weekend, as such I think we will see Jota start in his place. David Davis will also have a late medical following an injury he picked up against vile but I doubt these will actually cause any headaches selection-wise.
Millwall will be without Bryon Webster and Aiden O’Brien. Their January signing Harry Toffolo could be handed his debut against us. Millwall beat us 2-0 at their place in October but haven’t done the double over us in 18 attempts so I’d prefer them to not start doing it any time soon.
There’s generally an average of 2.26 goals per game during Millwall fixtures so I think we will definitely see goals in this one. The man in the middle is Darren England who has shown 51 Yellow Cards over 19 games this season, the only game no card was shown was the 2-2 draw between Stoke and Manchester United back in September so I’d definitely expect to see a couple of yellows in this game. He’s yet to brandish a red but it would be just Blues luck to find themselves on the receiving end of another red this week.
I do believe it was merely the occasion and a tough opponent than the end of the progress Blues had been making and think we will finish out 2-0 winners at the weekend.
