After a disappointing and lackluster 0-0 draw at home to Bolton last night, Harry Redknapp was left disgruntled at his teams performance and looked more frustrated than ever with the lack of incomings in this transfer window.

Blues have signed highly rated Isaac Vassell however, who looked lively when coming on to replace Clayton Donaldson last night, but still lacked any bite in midfield.

Rumour is, Blues are ‘talking to a free agent’ according to this reliable twitter account:

This then sparked a flurry of tweets putting two and two together linking Joe Ledley to Blues, as he is without a club and available on a free.

Although there may not be any truth in this, this possible signing does make a lot of sense. A former Premier League player that bosses the midfield and can break up play? Yes please.

The 30-year-old has proven he still has what it takes to be a top midfielder, but is it what Blues really need? In my opinion, yes. For what I’ve seen, N’Doye and Gardner don’t offer enough protection for the back four. It may be too early in the season to suggest that, but the Welshman has more bite and composure on the ball which Blues desperately need.

Kieftenbeld never stops running, but to me he’s not a strong enough defensive-mid. In my eyes Davis will be playing further up the pitch if we don’t bring in a creative attacking mid, so we need that player that can hold up the ball and release play. Since N’Daw, we haven’t really had that type of player…

Ledley, who joined Palace in 2014, said early in the summer that he would consider a switch to another country or division.

“It doesn’t bother me (playing in the Premier League) I have been there three-and-a-half-years so maybe a new challenge would be good,” he said. “I have only just turned 30.”

Maybe Harry should move in quick for this one, as it appears the midfielder is highly wanted in the Championship, after rejecting offers from two unnamed Championship clubs.

He was an integral part of Wales’ success last year. If Blues can land such a signing, it will almost certainly bolster their chances at a promotion push.

He’d have to take a wage cut, but being only 30, I think Redknapp should take a punt on him! Also, we’d have the best beard in the league…

What are your thoughts, should Blues make a move for Ledley or do you think we should be looking at more creative players now?

  1. Be very interesting 2 weeks now because you could argue we need 7 players for that starting line up,it was terrible at best last night and let’s face it Bristol City should have scored at least 4 Saturday, but there is no sign of signing anybody it took 2 months to get Vassell and who else was really interested in him ,because after watching Bristol and with 2 strikers injured can’t see why they’d need him ,Ipswich signed Garner and Waghorn and can stop scoring

  2. the african guy we are suppose to be signing could be the missing link. I think we need 2 quality wingers and 2 forwards. Juke isnt starting 11 without doubt. Was only worth 1 mill because he scored for us on loan. Cotteril and donaldson should be taken to the vets and put down!!

  3. happy harry is getting fed up …. wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t quit before the window shuts .. he’s not getting the tools he needs to do the job …WHY???….wolves Brentford Cardiff all spending millions …is it the board or the recruitment dept ? kro

  4. Can’t wait for the window to close. If nothing else but to stop the monotonous drivel that you stupid people come out with. Why would anybody give a flying toss who you think Blues should sign.
