    The Pre-Season Fixtures

Blues have named their pre-season raft of friendlies for next month and once again it’s a very Midlands orientated list of teams, many similar to that of last season. There are both First Team and U21 friendlies so for now I’ll focus on the first team Friendlies and it looks like we will be kicking things off with a game against newly promoted Solihull Moors on Tuesday 12th July.

In total Blues have 7 first team friendlies of which only one will be played at home when they face Dutch side Roda JC Kerkrade on 30th July. Roda were founded in 1962 following the merger of several teams within Kerkrade and finished 14th in the Eredivisie this season avoiding the relegation play-offs by 5 points it will be the first time the two clubs meet.

Blues will not be facing any Premier League title contenders this year but Walsall will no doubt be looking to push for promotion as they missed out in the play-offs last season. The game will take place on the 19th July which will also be when Blues face another League One outfit; Shrewsbury.

Shrewsbury narrowly avoided relegation to League Two last season finishing up 20th just ahead of Doncaster. The third and final League One team Blues will travel to face is Port Vale on the 26th July who finished 12th.

Blues final pre-season fixture is 2nd August as they travel to Aggborough to face the National League North team Kidderminster. Kidderminster found themselves relegation from the National League last season following a few issues off the pitch that saw them continue to play poorly following a poor run of form towards the end of the 14/15 season.

Overall Blues will find themselves quite busy and it could be an opportunity to showcase any new arrivals that we may see following the official opening of the window today and the appointment of Ewan Chester as Blues’ Football Consultant.
