Today it has been confirmed that Steve Cotterill has opted not to extend his stay at Blues. Cotterill was highly regarded by the club after he helped them avoid the drop and was offered a good contract as a result of this. Cotterill is most likely after another management job after being out of the game for so long this is possibly the reason why he turned down a contract at Blues. This begs the question who will Harry decide to appoint as his right hand man.
Harry could decide to turn to Joe Jordan who is currently at Middlesborough as an assistant manager to caretaker manager Steve Agnew. At this moment of time Blues would have to pay compensation to acquire Jordan, but Middlesborough are rumoured to be looking for a new manager to replace the current caretaker manager and this could mean Jordan leaves to join up with Harry. Jordan worked with Harry at Portsmouth, Spurs and most recently QPR. His no nonsense style of coaching and passion for football could be the difference for Blues. Could he be Harry’s man?
Kevin Bond is also a contender as he has worked with Harry twice with Spurs and at QPR. Bond also has a experience on the managerial front as he was appointed as Bournemouth manager in 2006 and kept them in League 1 before being sacked 2 years later. His coaching staff included the likes of Eddie Howe who is now tipped for big things. Bonds knowledge of the game could be invaluable for Blues and Redknapp.
Paul Robinson is not as experienced as the previous names, but would definitely be a fans top pick. Robbo is a fans favourite and is currently getting his coaching badges as well as coaching the under 18s at Blues. He could learn alot during a stint as Redknapp’s number 2 and in an ideal world he could take over from Redknapp when Redknapp calls it a day. His passion for the club and popularity with the fans makes him a contender, but his lack of experience makes it unlikely.
Who would you like to see as Redknapp’s Assistant?
