Conor Washington – Does he fit Redknapp’s bill?

QPR striker Conor Washington has been named as Harry Redknapp’s first real target this Summer, but does he fit the bill?

Still only 25, Washington is, or should be in his prime as a player right now. Although he only bagged himself nine goals in 45 games last season for The Hoops, QPR fans believe he is the man to fire them to the top of half the table next season.

However, The Northern Ireland international may find himself falling down the pecking order before he gets going again, if Holloway is to spend in this transfer window. With Matt Smith and Idrissa Sylla already at the club, it might be time for Washington to move to another looking for a regular goalscorer.

Signed for £2.5million from Peterborough, a player with undoubted intelligence and movement is what Blues need – Washington fits that bill. He still has 2 years left on his contact so there may be more than just a transfer fee involed, but there’s no wonder Redknapp is interested in him.

We did see Jutkiewicz fire in the goals early on, but he doesn’t have the movement to get past defenders. Adams is our only safe bet in that department, but we’re really looking for a 15+ goalscorer and I don’t think Adams can live up to that calibre just yet.

We know the Blues boss will attract the more ‘bigger’ names, but finding an experienced player at this level who knows where the net is, is harder than it looks these days and it will be top of Redknapp’s list while he jets off to Austria with the squad for pre-season in July.

Take a look at his top 5 below:

    1. Most of his best 5 were about failures of the keepers IMO if this is his best in early attempts on goal, then I think this QPR under-performing striker (less than 1 in 5) should stay in the Smoke!
